Vitamin E benefits

We've all heard of vitamin E being beneficial for the skin due to the numerous products available on the market which claim to have vitamin E goodness in them. Vitamin E has numerous benefits because of its antioxidant activity which protects the skin from pollution, drugs, Sun damage etc, thus, protecting and repairing the skin.

Because our body does not naturally produce Vitamin E, it is essential to be conscious that we are getting enough of this nutrient via our diet. It is one of the most powerful antioxidants which will neutralize free radicals and prevent cellular damage. Therefore Vitamin E  helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars, prevents the appearance of age spots, maintains the skin oil balance and strengthens the skin barriers causing the skin to retain moisture.

Foods that contain Vitamin E should be taken regularly, 10mg a day, but because their is not a significant amount available in food, supplements are also an option. Mango's, nuts, sweet potato's, peppers and cereals are among a few food items that contain this skin savior vitamin, as well as the pictures shown below!

Vitamin E can be purchased in small capsules which are made to be applied directly on the skin. Tried and tested, this makes the perfect night cream that doesn't feel oily, doesn't smear over the pillow and hydrates the skin leaving it beautifully hydrated by the morning.

On the other hand, do not over do it. As with everything else, too much vitamin E has side effects. Doses larger than 1000mg cause blood clotting,  which is fatal to all areas of our body. Go ahead and do your research. At the end of the day, knowledge is priceless and what better way to look after yourself than teaching your own self?
The body shop has one of the most renowned vitamin E skin care range that you could try and see what a difference it has on your skin. If not, look for products that do have vitamin E benefits in it.

Take care x
